The second book in this series, (Risky Shot) ended on a cliff-hanger that annoyed me. How could the author end the book with a line that lets you know that the two lead female characters got shot and you have no idea if they lived or not? Well it was a clever ploy by Kathleen Roberts because the reader is in absolute shock and they just HAVE to buy the next book to find out what happened!

Dead Heat was worth the annoyance. Of course McKenna and Danielle survived, but they can’t let the shooter know that they did or he’ll come back to finish the job. But Page Davis had saw where the shot came from and ran to the back of the building to intercept the shooter as he made his escape. He knows that she seen him and he got a good look at her when she yelled at him. Now they know her life is in danger as well.

Cole Parker is an FBI agent who has been working on the case that involves McKenna and Danielle, and it is his job to protect her—but his heart is also involved with this stubborn, independent woman who has brushed him aside all through the first two books. When she refuses to go to a safe house, he decides to move in with her, posing as her boyfriend as he works along beside her in her business.

Sparks of all kinds fly, including bullets when an assassin tries to take her out in her home, even though he is there.

This was a really great book—and no cliff hanger!

Do yourself a favor—buy the three books in the series immediately, so you can just read and enjoy!

Dead Heat Bluegrass Kathleen Brooks 9781468157246 Books Reviews

I just loved this series. I love the HEA...finally no cliffhanger. Still action packed and full of suspense. I can't wait to read her other Bluegrass series with high hopes we see more of the same characters. I want to find out what happens with Tammy & Pierce and is Miles the one for Katelyn?
Paige and Cole's story ends this series and it one of the really good ones. Poor Cole when he tries to wade through the brothers that are Paige's not to mention the parents. Thankfully for her, he is more than up to the challenge and it is a very satisfying story.

I have to say I have loved this entire series set in Kentucky among the horsey set and this terrific little town. It is home town America and the local grapevine at it's best. They will make you crazy but god help the one who harms one of their own or one even precieved to be there own.

It has the things a romance and a mega mystery should have keeps you turning those pages as fast as you can possibly read one.

If you haven't read the bluegrass series start with book one and read them in order you will fall in love with them.

ENJOY
I liked it BUT I won't be buying more from this author.

First the good stuff - it was a decent story and reasonably well told.

Now the bad stuff. I HATE cliffhanger endings, and the first two books in this trilogy had cliffhangers AND IT ISN'T MENTIONED IN THE DESCRIPTION. VERY bad protocol! I only finished the series because I already had them all - and as I said, it was a decent story. I must add that the first book's cliffhanger wasn't awful, but the second one more than made up for it - it wasn't the end of a book at all, just the end of a chapter. You have to start the next book immediately if you want to get an actual "ending." I also found the dialog to be very stilted, as the author rarely used contractions, and people just do NOT talk like that. It threw me out of the story several times.
Paige the a sister amount 5 rough n tough over bearing brother's and she stood her ground. No weak link her, if you like to see a woman that can hold her own with boys yet still have a feminine drop dead body n business "my hats off" to her. This story would make you want to move there n call them friends. Aww wish it was that easy. It was a wonderful book Stand alone each book 4/5 of 5 Star if you read them in order. My favorite ...oh no way I would be able to chose it like choses between children, they all are special and unique. A must read for you reading list. I am usual cheap when I buy books but at this price I wouldn't hesitate (buy the set-no way you'll only read one, you'll fall for all three ladies and their perfect for their loves).
I'm not sure how I was introduced to this series. I believe it was one of the book clubs where you get the first book at a reduced price. What I do know is that I started the first book, Bluegrass State of Mind, and found a terrific author. This series is a perfect blend of suspense, romance, and laugh out loud fun. I found myself reading all three books in three days. This series brings us people you will enjoy knowing and , if like me, continue reading next up to follow an interesting group of new acquaintances. Each book was not only a great read but was also free of grammatical errors that so often slow the reading process down. Thank you Kathleen Brooks. Love your books!
Nice characters and a nice flow from book to book. This story is book three and I do recommend that you read the first two books for this one answers the questions left open in them. Minor grammar errors, but nothing you can't just skim over and continue reading. One thing that took a bit getting use to was now definitive end from one scene to another. One minute your reading their are at one. Location and the next line it's a different day or you are some place different with no warning or explanation what happened to get you their. My suggestion is to do what I do, take it for what it is and move on. Great characters, very open and honest with the reader and got you to be concerned about the issues they are each involved in. Nice twist in the plot and how they each come together. I want to live there and enjoy this town for all its worth! Thank you Kathleen Brooks for these books and look forward to the continuation of the Davies brothers. 😂
